Hello all,

I am a complete newbie when it comes to EPO. I have just started with a company who uses EPO and is currently running version 3.02.

In my previous life I was using an all symantec solution so I am quite rusty when it comes to McAffee.

Can anyone point me to any good documentation, white papers, or any other references you may have when it comes to doing the upgrade. Also I would like to master EPO 3.5 and learn all the ins and outs so any recommended reading you can offer would be great.

How did everyoen find this upgrade to be? Is it rather smooth or is it a rather complicated upgrade?

Thanks for the help.

I didn't encounter any problems when I upgraded my ePO Server from 3.0.2 to 3.5. I think it was just as simple as running the setup program. (You may want to review any Release Notes as well just in case certain functionalities/programs are no longer supported after the upgrade)

Before I did any upgrades, I did back up my database files and then performed a Ghost image backup of my entire ePO Server just in case the upgrade went terribly wrong and I needed to rollback.

The only documentation I used to help me with understanding how to use ePO was basically the McAfee Product Guide, which you can download from McAfee's web site using your Grant Number. That's basically all I used. If your company have any spare PCs lying around and is not being used, you may want to experiment on a test server first. That way, you have the documentation in your hand and you are able to experiment on a test server without accidentally killing your production server.

there's a good upgrade guide for it on McAfee's site (think you need a grant number to access it though). My experience was it was very simple and I didn't have any issues personally, we only have a single ePO server + a couple of repositories though so may be trickier in a more complex environment.
