Hi,

I have a reoccuring problem with my version of Win98 (1st ED).

Every time I start up windows, it asks for a password.
I have not set up a password. The system says, do not enter
a password and the window won't appear again. I didn't, but it still appears each time I start up Win98.

How can I stop this from happening?

Thanks

Go to Control Panel, Network and change the Primary logon to 'Windows Logon', then restart. You might see the prompt one more time. Be sure there is some username & no password then hit OK, not cancel. You should never be asked again.

after doing smahs tip;
press WINKEY + F to find/search
make sure C:\ is in Location and type in*.pwl into the Named box
delete all files and reboot
Now, do what smah said - enter a username and NO password, and click OK
