Enforcing policies Windows 2000 server for Win 95, 98, ME clients 1

Hello all

I've searched past posts and I'm getting myself confused, so forgive me if this is a redundant post for some of you.

I have a Windows 2000 server, and I wish to enforce policies on all my LAN computers. Unfortunatly, every one runs pre-2000 OS's, which makes group policy useless. Could someone please walk me through, or direct me to the necessary steps in controlling policies for this type of network?

If you really want to have your policies working properly and easily administered you have to upgrade all of you workstations to Windows 2000.

I understand that...I know there are ways to do it, involving poledit.exe on Win 2000. Can anybody enlighten me?

Let me ask a question, is this 2k server a domain controller? or is this not the only server on your network. I have the opposite situation, I have an NT network and 2k Pro workstations and I use Poledit and it works great.

If you want system policies for win9x to be automatically downloaded and applied you must run windows 2000 or NT domain and make win9x computers to logon in this domain. If you want to use policies based on user groups you must also install Group Policies support on each win9x computer.
To create your policies with poledit.exe, you must run poledit.exe on win9x machine, not win2000. Your policy file you must save on 'netlogon' share as config.pol.
