Encrypting a Gen Field

Well, yes... you can use Cryptor from Xytech, a 3rd party solutions which allows you to encrypt entire tables regardless of their content. I'm not questionning your requirment, though I do wonder why you'd need such a thing? Fox's general fields are very very difficult to get anything out of them without Fox itself, and once the content has been put into a general field, unless you're displaying it in an OLE bound box, it's virtually impossible to get the contents back out of them again.
Aside from that, I'm not aware of any encryption for General fields, and I've done extensive encryption work in both FP2.x and VFP.

Thanks...the table itself (fox2.6) is stored on a server and though all the fields are encrpyted, except the general field, and only certain people can have access to it, someone who does have foxpro could still open the table then the general field. In other words there are people who can see the table on the network(unavoidable MIS staff) but are not supposed to see the contents.

Than your best bet is Cryptor. It's a good product, I've used it extensively, and is still available for Fox 2.x from Halogram. The manufacturer is Xytec.l
