yup, u cannot Encrypt something that is sent to another software (like ur database) as it will not understand the encrypted string...

Well basically i have this ASP app that has an include file with a connection string and i am passing in my login info for my SQL box in there. I would like to somehow encrypt that information incase the system administrator opens my include file ( not like they would ) but i just want to see if something like this is possible.

like i said that cannot be done, the string that u pass goes to the SQL Server which may not understand the encrypted command, its like writing encrypted ASP...

hardly matters in that case the sys admin probably has access to the SQL server assuming they are on the same host/box as the website.

other than that there is MS Script encoder bear in mind though it is in no way secure. See to find a way to decode them. Or this if you don't want to read all that.

How about requesting your system admin to create a new user id and password for your ASP application? This is an easier solution for your concern.
