In Microsoft's knowledge database question Q247951, lists this fix as "HOWTO: Enabling UDMA66 Mode on Intel Chipsets". We use several ASUS K7V motherboards with a VIA disk controller (chipset) and an AMD Athlon processer. Does this mean I don't have to do the registry patch for UDMA66 or are they speaking about "work station" processors vs "Intel" processers? Thanks in advance.

P.S I am new to this forum and want to say this is a very nice environment to exchange questions and answers. Great job everyone!

Windows 2000 UDMA66 mode is OFF by default on the Win2K Pro product. You still need to do the Patch even with VIA chipsets. Then update to the ATA100 support ONLY IF your controller and Hard Drive support it.
