Enabling IP

Problem:
Cannot see Novell tree or authenticate over VPN tunnel.

I was told that I would need to enable NDS authentication via IP on our 5.x server. How can I verify if this has been done? Also, when I have established the tunnel to the PIX device and are attempting to browse the tree I get and error message stating that the tree cannot be found. I was under the impression that IP traffic could transverse the VPN tunnel and that I should be able to at least see the servers running IP.

Anyone have experience with Novell and VPN solutions?
