EMM386.exe

I had a bad install of Win Me, upgrading Win95. Now I want to unistall Win Me but the uninstall will not process because there is no driver for EMM386.exe. I learned form Microsoft knowledge base that I need to change the config.sys file to indicate the driver.

Can anyone provide the exact statement (or recommedned statement)I need to put in the config.sys? I can update it later, but I just want my Win95 back right now.

I think it is:

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE

That's what's residing in my config.sys file.

Brian,

The config.sys file does nothing in Windows ME. Some commands can be inserted in the system.ini file, however.

How far did the install get?

Go to Start>Settings<COntrolPanel>Add/Remove Programs and see if Windows ME is in the list.
