I read a post about a company called eMetrotel that allow the legacy M and T series sets to continue to be used and a Nortel simulation platform as well.

This is very interesting to me as it proves that the Meridian/Norstar/Nortel line was such a hearty and well loved system that former employees of the company are developing this for the marketplace

I am wondering if anyone has yet to try one of these out or install one of these yet? If so what does everyone think about this.

I still believe that the sets and features were one of the best design that I have ever worked with.

The town that I live in is what I call a Nortel town because the local old Bell company had for decades and still does install Nortel for their small and large clients.

Being a person who bleeds Nortel blue, it's a given for me to consider this UCx system for testing and recommending to others! Some people say Nortel is DEAD, well the Evergreen commitment is alive and well with the folks at Emetrotel, because they are the Nortel guys. A few people on this Thread have been drinking the Avaya Wine, well I am going to drink my Emetrotel UCx wine :)

The IP Office won't let you run any older series Meridian sets....ie, the ones that were made from 1988-1995....that only allow contrast levels 1-4 which can be differentiated from the newer sets that allow you to choose contrast 1-9.

UCx allows you to use the older Meridian sets.....newer M and T sets, Unistim sets, SIP sets, Cisco sets, Polycom sets, probably a Siemens Hi Com SIP set, you name it....who knows, possibly M2000 Delta/Aries and M3900 Taurus series in the future too. The guys designing UCx, are your Nortel alumni who designed your beloved Norstar/BCM/Meridian Options/ DMS/SL100 switches!
