Embedded Excel sheet problem

Hi,
I have a problem with an MS Word document that contains embedded Excel spreadsheet graphs.
When I edit one of these graphs to include data for a new month and then save the document, the file size increases enormously. The file started out as 929Kb but is now approx. 50Mb!

Has anybody else come across this issue and does anyone have a fix for it?

Create your spreadsheet as an individual .xls file and save it in your computer, and then go to word menu INSERT_OBJECT_CREATE FROM FILE, make sure you tick the "Link to file" option.
Any changes you make in the spreadsheet will be automatically reflected in your word document and you can always keep your file in a smaller size.
