Emails not sending when sending through the exchange

I have a user who sends out press releases. I was wondering if there is a limit of how many recipients that they can send to. The reason I ask this is because if he tries to send an email to everyone on his list they all get dropped...when he breaks up the list they go through...is there a setting?
