Came across a weird one today. Customer has a dialup account with Earthlink. Uses a 3rd party email account - POP3, incoming = somethingorother.net, outgoing = smtp.earthlink.net. Works fine on win95 machine using OE 5.5.
Now we create the same exact account in winME also using OE 5.5. Won't connect to incoming server. Create the same account again on a win98 machine using OE 6.0 - still won't connect to incoming mail server.
Tried all the following on the winME machine:
Deleted the dialup connection and recreated it
Deleted the entire Dialup Networking and reinstalled it
Deleted the dialup adapter, uninstalled the Earthlink software and reinstalled it
Swapped out the phone line between the two machines
Ran out of ideas. Does anybody know why it works on win95 but not the others?
