I have been having a problem with my email for 2 weeks now. I've tried opening with both Netscape and Outlook Express but neither works. I've tried this on 2 different computers but the problem remains.

I can send email but not receive. With either operating system email starts to be read but stops after 1 message. Netscape give me no error but Outlook sends this error

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection.
Possible causes for this include server problems, network
problems, or a long period of inactivity.
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '+OK', Port: 110, Secure
(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F.

I have gone through and deleted the account and rebuilt it, this hasn;t changed anything.

This has happened with both a cable connection and dial up modem. I have another email account on earthlink but it works fine. Earthlink can't seem to figure it out.
It seems that this would be a server problem.

Any suggestions?

This sounds very familiar to a problem I had (also using Earthlink though not an Earthlink issue).

Are you running Norton and is it set to check incoming e-mail. If yes uncheck the option to check e-mail and see if you can download the message.

If you are still having a problem after unchecking make sure that the incoming server name was not changed to 127.0.0.1.

I haven't had this problem on the current version of Symantec Anti Virus but it was a problem with the older version of NAV.

What virus scanner do you have installed?

I have tried turning of the Norton and this doesn't make any difference. The incoming server name did not change. What makes this seem strange is the fact that I have used different computers and Netscape and Outlook Express.

Thanks for all of the info but I corrected it another way that seems to be working. I sent all of my my mail from Earthlink to another account. Than I deleted everything in my Inbox. I then sent emails from another account and tried to download with Outlook Express. The email finally worked. I though maybe this was just good for 1 email. This morning I downloaded over 15 messages. Earthlink had no explanation.
