Hi all,

Anyway to validate the form of a column of email addresses in excel? It just needs to make sure there are not any spaces, illegal email characters and forms?

Many thanks,

Dan

You can use conditional formatting.

Highlight the column cells you wish to search through, then click Tools > Conditional Formatting...

Change to Formula is, then add the following =Search(" ",cell reference)

cell reference being the first cell at the top of the column. But make sure you remove the $'s from the cell reference.

Now add a format that will highlight the offending text results, and hey presto, any cells with a space in will be highlighted appropriately.

Change the search character to suit.
