We are having a problem emailing to one particular domain. All other mail seems ok. We have had the same problem in the past, but was not so much of an issue and we managed to get around it (but not resolve it)
When I look at the queue I get the message
The connection was dropped due to an SMTP protocol event sink.
Eventually the message fails.
We have sent successfully to that domain in the past, and there have been no changes on our server to affect the problem. I have been in contact with the recieving company who say everything is checking out ok their end.
I installed the exchange troubleshooter and the only thing it comes up with is
smtp instance fully-qualified domain name does not match DNS resolved server name.
For info...
fqdn = domain.com
server name = mail.domain.com
W2k3, SP2, Exchange 2003.
I have tried to google this without any success, and am not entirely convinced it related to the original problem.
I have checked to see if we are on spam lists and we are not, so I am beginning to run out of options.
Any help is much appreciated.
