What program can I use with WinXP to send emails to a networked user without being connected to the internet?

My computer and another computer is hooked up via network cards and I want to be able to send email/instant messeges to the other computer while we are offline and not connected to the net

Small messages can be sent using the "net send" command, but this is not email. Choose Start/Run then type NET SEND username " message of about 128 chars"

You could install a Freeware/shareware mail server and you would be able to send within the server.
