Email shows up in user inbox - but shows " not sent"!

Hello,

I have an end-user who while sitting at his desk had two messages appear in his inbox. When he opened the messages, the first thing he noticed was the the phrase "This message has not been sent".

I ran the Message tracking tool in the Exchange System Manager and there were no messages delivered to the end-user during that period of time.

The only other aspect of this episode is that he had a terminated user's email forwarded to him during that time.

Exchange 2000 SP3 with SP3 Rollup, 2000 Server SP4 environment in a child domain, using Outlook XP SP1 for email client on Windows XP professional OS SP1.

Any thoughts?
