We are just setting up a Windows 2003 Standard server and are converting alot of our Linux duties over to it. We've got the webserver working already and are getting ready to work on an email server. I've turned on the Pop3 service and my computers is holding open both the smtp and pop3 ports. Are my Active Directory users already setup to send and receive email? Do I have to add users to the pop3 management screen even though they exist in Active Directory.

Users can't send email just because they are on AD. They still need clients and the server needs to be setup as a mail server as well, unless you have a separate one which I'd recommend. Not good to have AD on an exposed server. What are you using for the mail?
