I am in the process of creating email and email retention policies. I am interesting in getting some feedback on what other Companies have in place.
1. How big of a mailserver(s) are you managing?
2. Do you have size limits in place? What are they?
3. Do you have a retention policy in place? How long are people allowed to keep email?
4. What happens to the old email? Do you run a mailbox maintenance?
5. Do people use pst files or auto-archive? Where are these files kept? Network or local drive? Have you experienced any problems with pst on a network?
6. Any helpful hints?

Thank you for any input that you can provide.

It all depends on the type of business using the e-mail system. First I would find out what (if any) company policies exist for general record retention.

Companies where record retention is critical (ie, Health Insurance) will usually have strictly enforced mailbox size limits, retention policies, and archive features in place.

Companies where record retention is less critical are often more laxed in all said areas.
