There is an internal email message sent to three recipients that is being automatically resent every 30 minutes. The sender is receiving "Read" notifications when the email is read. There don't seem to be any viruses etc. on his PC. Other emails he has sent before and after are not being resent. The repeated emails do not appear in his "Sent Items" folder.

We have Exchange/Outlook 2000, all PCs involved are XP pro SP2 fully patched etc.

I don't know how Exchange handles internal emails so don't know where to even start looking for this problem. I can't find any scheduled sending functions that might inadvertently have been set.

Can't find any mention of this by Googling so must be something very simple or very strange!

Any suggestions/ideas??!

are the clients caching?
does the message have a large attachment?

I had this happen several times. Someone would send a message, but it never got sent completely because it was too large. Then the recipients would get the partial message every 30 minutes. It got ugly.

Thanks for the reply.

Turns out this was happening when synchronising offline and online emails. His mailbox size has exceeded 2Gb, he reduced it substantially but now there is some mismatch/corruption and this email is resent every time there is an attempt at synchronisation. The sync fails.

I will remove the offline emails and try reconfiguring the setup again, when i get the time.....
