I have a user that recieved 2 emails today. One from Feb and one from April. All other email has been fine and this problem has not been reported by anyone else. We are running Exch 2003 sp3 with all current fixes applied. User is running Outlook 2003 Pro. The delayed emails just "showed up" today.

I checked our spam/av firewall and there was no issue there either.

I cannot find the anything in message tracking center and the headers say the mail was delivered ont the proper dates to our Exchange server. How can I determine where it was lost. Is it an Outlook setting maybe? Just seems too random to be a server issue. I am not an Outlook guru by any stretch, any hints where to check?

Have not found anything on google. Any help would be great as this is my boss.

My inclination would be that the problem existed on the sender's side and not yours. When their problem was resolved the stuck message was released and delivered. Take a look at the header information from the email to see the time stamps.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

The header info was shown to be accepted by my server the Feb and April dates. They were also from 2 diff domains. Here is an example, Maybe I am reading it wrong?

I am wondering if it is setting going haywire in this particular users Outlook program.

Need to put this in context. Looks like it was sent on April 11. Routed the same day and recieved by your server the same day. When did the user get the mail?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

The user got the email yesterday. It looks like the transmission from sender's domain to receiver domain was fine. It just got lost between the end user and our Exchange server for some time. I dont know where in the exchnage box to track it. The message tracking center does not even see the email. That is why I am leaning toward the users Outlook client. I just cannot figure where to check.

Unless it was stuck in your queues I would tend to agree with you. I had a user with a corrupt profile that once had similar problems.

I hope you find this post helpful.
