email notify without being on corp domain ( set as private )

just a little fuzzy - but can you have notify me (SMTP )
without being on domain - set as private domain.

having all sorts of issues with it be on corp domain - may end up reloading - take off corp domain running CM3.1

It should not matter if it is in the Corp or if you have your own voicemail domain. It is the firewall that is not passing the message.

issues with not being able to load patches of any kind - comes back with permission error - running the .exe from mas - tried MM31005 , MM31006 , MM31007

first portion fails MSS\masServicepacks\directory

Avaya tier 4 has been in the box twice - soem ist sittint as base load have had 3 different Avaya techs in the boxes as well remote - still can not figure out way - Network people have allowed all polices in Ad

late messages - sometimes hours , in some cases a day late -

times are right in both mas / mss


SMTP email getting double notification ( turned off now )

I would think it would solve alot off isues if we could just load the patch

done several MM31 off doamins without these troubles

domains shows both joining - permissions allowed -

even saw the issue with MM31 and joining domain followed to the t -

my question was that if I just use the private domain will I still be able to use notify me email - smtp

also can I just back up mailboxes / grettings & messages
reload them after ...relaoding MAS / MSS reconfigure to be off doamin ....


I figure it would have been easier then what I have had to jump through for the last 12 days

Avaya gave the blessing on both planning forms and dct tool

done a few 1.1 , 3.0 and few 3.1 but off corp domain and never had these kinds of troubles - I did not feel as bad when the Avaya people were confused as well .

its been he said - she said kind of thing

Avaya its your network -
network says everything looks good -

so this is why we kind of jhave thrown the towel in as Mr. Duran said its nicely

From the mas / configure / active directory
expand upon company domain I see the mas is in folder with domain controller called servers .


From the mas / configure / active directory
expand upon company domain I see the MSS is in folder called computers.


from what Avaya is saying its best practice to setup a domain just for the Vocemail which would include MAS / MSS
accounts ? is this how you do youtr installs Mr. Means

Mr. Means,

Is it possible to back up just mailboxes - greetings - messages.

Then reload both servers - take off corp domain join as "private " domain where the dct tool sets the 'private' domain , as the mas for the dc

load patch MM310007 ( latest and greatest )


Then reload just the mailboxes - greetings and messages
this part would save some time - just under 75 subscribers

Just don't know what my options are at this point - as we have spent considerable time with out much progress.

No it will not work as the mailboxes are in the VMD and that will change if you reload it.

Can you browse to the mss at all from the MAS or any other windows box? It sounds like it may be a rights issue of the user you are logged in as.

Thank you - kind of figured the back - restore was not an option - makes sense as for the permssions issue

I have jumped through hoops for the last 2 1/2 weeks with little progress - Avaya saying its not them - data group saying allowing everything for permissions even Anonymous
which was missed the first time - been on the phone with Avaya & data group 6 times

this is why we have decided to take off the corp domain
and use the privtate domain with the MAS as dc .....

I would think loading the patch would help with the late
messages - late msg lights and so on as it stands now still at base load 3.1

Avaya says all looks good

Data group saying all looks good

The late messages sounds like it may be the same thing as not being able to see the MSS.
