the email notification icon is not working. i looked in taskbar and actually changed settings a couple of times hoping to reset something. any help, tyvm.
The "Unread Mails" notification appears as a hyperlink below your login name on the Welcome screen. It indicates the number of unread e-mail messages. Clicking the hyperlink will display the number of e-mail messages from each e-mail account. For example:
UserID@msn.com (2)
UserID@hotmail.com (1)
The hyperlink will be displayed only if you have an e-mail client running on your computer that is capable of updating the Welcome screen.
Currently, the only two applications that support this feature are Microsoft Outlook Express and Windows Messenger. Other e-mail clients or software like AOL, MSN etc., do not update the Welcome Screen. If you have multiple e-mail accounts, this feature may not work properly. If you want to disable the "Unread Mails" notification feature, follow one of the methods described below:
Method 1:
1. Click Start and select Run.
2. Type Regedit in the Open field.
3. Navigate to the following path:
4. Double-click the "MessageExpiryDays" value in the right pane and
change the value to 0.
5. Close the registry editor and log off from Windows for the changes
to take effect.
Method 2:
Download and run the registry patch from the following Web site:
Is there a way to get it to work with Microsoft Outlook? I liked the feature before I upgraded from Outlook Express, but didn't have enough motivation to ask until now... Thanks in advance,
