I am looking for a way to provide a volume controlled sound alerting me that i have mail. I have MS outlook 2000 and it presently beeps. however i would like it to play a customized sound. How can i accomplish this.

In the control panel under Sounds is New Mail Notification, this controls which sound is used when you receive a new email. Change this to your specific sound. Then:
Go to Outlook and in Tools, Options, Email-Options (button near top), Advanced Email Options. On this screen make sure that in When a new email arrives, "Play a sound" check box is checked.
This sound can be controlled by the volume control on your system. Time flies when you don't know what you're doing...
