I want DSA/ASA to email me when the trunk monitor finds out of service trunks. When I set up the trunk monitor to email on out of service trunks it launches my Lotus notes. Is there a way to get it to smtp the email without kicking off Notes?

Thanks
ED

I have it set up on my switch to send emails to me.I just checked "Send out of service trunks in email" then entered SMTP:username@company.com. Everything works great.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your response. That is how mine is setup but is launches Lotus notes? Because Notes is password protected it goes no further than asking for my password. If notes is running it will generate the email but not send it.
Thanks

It does that because of the option Assume an e-mail client will be running. With Lotus Notes, however, that is your only option - Use an e-mail profile is only available for Microsoft Exchange.

Susan: Thanks for the reply. The launch of Notes happens if that option is checked or not. I will look to see if the Company has exchange. I don't think so.

Thanks

It's probably doing that because Notes is your default e-mail program...

Hi Ed,

We have the same problem, you can try using the program mailit from and maybe have your ASA download a trunk report to file, and then schedule this program to run hourly to send your email to you. It wouldn't be acutally "monitoring" your trunks, but you could just check your email every hour.

We just got a new version of HeadsUp from Utilcall to monitor our trunks because this can send an email through Lotus Notes. The only thing with this is we need to leave Notes running on our desktop, but since we can't access our SMTP server directly, this is was an easy trade off.

For the mailit program, we use this to send CMS reports to our group by running the .cvsauto script, and then scheduling the mailit program to run an hour later.
