email filtering solution for hosted email

my site and mail is hosted by a hosting company that offers really nothing in terms of email filtering for spam and whatnot...what kind of solutions are there do this job being that i don't control the box it's on...

 
You could setup your own local mail server, and have it collect all mail from you hosted server using some sort of pop collector.

Or change the MX records on your server to point at your own server and do away with the hosted server.

 
You'll need client based filtering software. Or move your hosted mail to another provider that has better spam filters.
