I've been having an issue lately with .pst files getting too big. The people here refuse to delete their e-mails, then the pst files get corrupt and they lose everything... I'm trying to devise a way to archive emails away and still make them easily accessible to the employees here. I'm coming up short on ideas so I would greatly appreciate anyone else’s.

Thank you.

We had the same problem so decided to have users start a new personal folder for each calendar year.

Both folders (more if needed) can be open simutaenously so all past and current data is always available.

A calendar years worth of e-mail (for us) seemed never to exceed 1 gig, well below the 2 gig (corrupted .pst) size.

n.b.

For those who managed to grow their folders to destruction and were unable to delete or add we did the following:

Create a new personal folder

Cut and paste or Drag and drop from the corrupted folder to the new folder.

When done you need to compress the corrupted folder before you can gain full access to its data.
From Outlook:
Tools
Services
Click your "corrupt" personal folder
Click properties
Click compress now
(this can take several hours)

much luck
