email addresses are case sensitive

Can someone advise me how we can take off the case sensitivity on email addresses.

eg: someone emails TestUser@testdomain.com.au and email is rejected. If the same person emails testuser@testdomain.com.au email comes through.

really? case shouldn't have any effect on smtp addresses...what does the NDR say?
