We recently became NEC resellers and have installed about 6 Elite IPK systems. We like the phones and the general hardware architecture seems to be quite straight forward. Also, NEC appears to be a good company to align ourselves with.
However, I am a little dissapointed with the amount of time it takes to program the IPK system on a new install. (as comapred to other systems we carry).
I do have 22 years in key/PBX, so I am not exactly a beginer at this.
Some specific examples are not being able to copy specific button programming from one phone to another (like DSS keys)We had an install of about 40 phones and had to walk to each phone and program 16 DSS keys at each phone.
Another headache seems to be the "CAP" & "CAR" key feature. How are you suppose to keep track of who has what CAR/CAP keys already assigned? Seems like there would be a lot of call-backs for MAC work.

My question is how does the Aspire comapre to the IPK in terms of programming difficulty (and reliability). I have heard it was a good system, but have no first hand experience with it. I would like to explore our options before we get too many more IPK systems installed!

Thanks.

If you use the SAT software you can copy all of those Keys. And you can Auto Assign the CAP Keys to each phone. With the sat Software you can program the Elite in a snap. Try it out and see what you think. Just remember you need a MIF-M Card or a Single Point of Entry card to use the SAT.

Thanks dontworx.
I tried using SAT to copy a DSS-BLF key and it did not seem to work. It copied the Feature key itself, but did not copy the actual contents of the specific DSS entry I programmed on the phone I copied from. I had to go to the actual phone to specify the DSS entry with: Feature-Redial-Key- 1 + 200-Feature (for a DSS for ext 200)

Am I missing something? It won't suprise me because I am pretty new to the system. I did not know about the auto assign for CAP keys!

You have to goto the part of the Sat software for the One touch and feature access keys. go under applications and click on IP phones. Then click the arrow once to the right and you will see feature access key programing and the tab for onetouch key programing.
