I am installing several remote printers that rely on VPN access for printing over 384K DSL connections. Everything works fine except the amount of time it takes to print - about 22 seconds for 1 page. This is not a problem. The problem is the dialog box that pops up on the screen and stays there until the document is done printing. Is there a way to eliminate this dialog box or make it less obtrusive?

On the Print Server Properties, check the Advanced tab.

You may see something like this:
Show Informational Notification for Networked Printers

Try unchecking it....

The configuration is like this:

a) client (requesting print)
b) Central PC with all printers connected to it (shared via AD BTW)
c) remote printer

A typical print job goes from A to B to C. I assumed that the properties that you referred to existed on B but I was unable to find them there? Is my assumption correct and if not, do you have any ideas where the advanced properties tab would exist?

What you are looking for is on the local PC (A). Go to Windows Explorer --> Control Panel --> Printers and Faxes. If you now look on the file menu on the menu bar, there should be an option for server properties. Open this and then you will see the advanced tab with that setting.
