Elements 2 Brightness help 1

When I increase the brightness in my dark videos using the adjuster in Image Controls under the Properties tab, and it looks great in the Monitor tab. I can see all of the stuff that was in the dark before and it looks very natural and all that. However, when I export it onto my computer it looks awful. It looks just as dark as it was before except it looks whiter and faded.

Any advice would be great. Thank you.

Try altering the central (gamma) adjuster in the Levels effect instead. This keeps the black and white levels at their original values and changes the mapping of the central gray value to adjust brightness of gray levels in between.

Thank you, but the problem with adjusting the gamma is that I still can't see the stuff that's in the dark. When I adjust the brightness I can see everything clearly until I export. Like, I have a part in my movie where the room is too dark and I can't see a guy's face. When I adjust the brightness, I can see the his face completely, but when I change the gamma, the guy's face is still dark and shadowy.

You have a choice, then. Go with brightness and accept the bad side, or use a matte to isolate the face area on a superimposed copy of the video and adjust that area separately.
