In W2K and XP one is presented with a nice little icon in the System Tray to use when it's time to safely disconnect a USB flash drive, etc. All I can find in WIN98 is an "Eject" menu item if one right-clicks on the appropriate drive in My Computer. This doesn't appear to offer any message like say, "Safe to Remove", "Make my Day!" etc., etc.

Is this as good as it gets, or is there a way to produce an icon onto the system tray, a la W2K and XP?

I'll take that as a "no" then... [sad]

No Icon. I run XP and 98 both. I'm so nervous from XP, I click on the flash drive and exit manually. I have seen 98 lock-up from hot plugging and un-plugging a drive, not to mention possible corruption on x-fers.

Thanks for that Micker377. You're right to use the system tray icon in XP before pulling out the flash drive - too many problems can occur if this procedure isn't followed...
