Quick, and hopefully simple question:

Does the boot.ini recognise the EISA partition, ie, I have two partitions, c: and d:, as well as the EISA partition on the hard disk of a server which has recently died. I restored it, but now can't boot the thing (inaccessible boot device). I also didn't see the boot.ini before the server died, so I'm not sure what it looked like when the machine was working.

So, if 2k is installed on c:, should my boot.ini point to partition(1) or partition(2)?

Hope someone can help,
Chris

Hi, if you created a new eisa partition, boot.ini restored from tape is correct

otherwise you can create a boot floppy disk with multiple lines in boot.ini

follow the info on m$ knowledgebase Q101668 to create a disk

edit the info in the boot.ini file to match your config

should be up and running in no time ;-)

Short answer is yes - EISA partition is counted as a partition. It's FAT Type 6h and is recognized at boot time.
