I hope this is kind of the right forum for my question...

I have been searching for a c++ programming environment (or an editor) under Linux/Unix that supports code completion in the Delphi/VisualStudio style (type a point and get all functions/properties/variables listed), and I have not found anything (KDevelop, for example, seems to support only code templates).

Does anybody know such an environment, or if there is none: Why is this? Is the code completion mechanism patented or what could be the reason?

Thanks a lot,
Anne

It seems to me that Jext only supports that through a specific plugin that is only available for Java programming,
but thank you anyway for the hint.

You can get plugins for kwrite and kate. They are both good editors. Kate can use all kwrite plugins, and has a built in terminal.

I'm postive that someone must have writen a plugin for Emacs as well. Emacs can launch missles on mars, surf the internet, talk to you, check your e-mail and play mp3 files if you have the appropriate plugins.
