Hi, I've recently purchased a HP 2410 Photosmart all in one scanner. This has the facility to scan documents as a Word document, so far so good....

However, when I try to open the document to edit it, no matter what I try, I cannot get the thing to open as a Word document that I can edit.

I suspect that the file is only being recognised as a picture and therefore cannot edit it but would welcome confirmation of this by someone more technical than I.

Alternatively, is there any other software like Acrobat Reader which would allow me to edit scanned documents?

thanks

Mark

You need an OCR package most scanners come with such software. Normally the file will be saved in RFT format and you'll need to make sure that you look for these when you try and open in Word

Thanks dwlerwill,

not being technically minded, not sure how to do this. I have the option to scan as a picture, a word doc or an e-mail.

Which of these do I choose and what would an OCR programme be branded as?
