editing letterbox and widescreen in pro # 2

I recently shot some video in letterbox (0.9)and my partner shot in widescreen (1.2). I'm not sure if the terms are used interchangeably. Anyway, I captured both in their original format and later tried to re-interpret the footage but it's not working. Is there anything that I can do to make them work together?
