I'm using Flash 4, and though I'm a fairly knowledgable user, I have run into a problem that it just so happens hasn't come up before. I needed to create a new symbol, and that symbol needed to have many similar elements from an already existing symbol. So, to save time and effort, I simply duplicated the existing symbol, gave it a new name, and changed the duplicate to my liking. Here's the problem... when I open my Library viewer and highlight the new, duplicated symbol, I see the changes I have made in the preview window. However, when I actually drag the symbol into my scene - it's identical to the symbol I duplicated, with none of my edits visible!(?) I guess I have run into a common Flash trap. What do I need to do... create a new symbol from scratch and just paste all the elements into it? Or is there an easier way?

Thanks!

That's what I would do!
