Hello folks,

I have an Access 97 database which requires some tweaking. The customer requires the database to remain in Access 97, however I now have Access 2003.

I notice that Access 2003 has a function "Tools/Database Utilities/Convert Database/To Access 97 Format". I therefore assume that the process would be:

1. Open the database in 2003 (thereby converting 97 -> 2003)
2. Make changes using 2003.
3. Use the Convert function (thereby converting 2003 -> 97)

Being a regular user of Microsoft products, I am suspicious that it might not be as simple as that! Will this work without mangling the database? FAQs and other resources seem to suggest such a conversion is not possible. (It is a relatively simple front-end/back-end database, with no links to other external data)

Thanks,

Andy.

It will work as you say only if you don't use any access 2003 new stuff that might not be supported when converting back to 97. Have a backup copy just in case.
