edit form prob...

have a form that i want to be able to edit a record with linked list combos - works fine until i put the title of the page which comes from a linked table.
the title is put in a text box and gets data from the forms query.
when this is added to form the title is displayed but combo boxes can not update anything
error bottom left
"this recordset is not updateable"

can anybody explain this to me?

Maybe this will help you.. it comes from the ACCESS 97 Help file, and was in a table with 3 columns, but didn't paste too well in this space.

When can I update data from a query?

In some cases, you can edit the data in query Datasheet view to change the data in the underlying table. In other cases, you can't. The following table shows whether a query's results can be updated, and if not, whether there is an alternative.
