Hi all,

Hope you can help me clear something up. I have a client who wants to view/edit Access MDB data but does not want to purchase the Pro version of Office 2003 and use the MS Access program as he believes that there is an 'Access Runtime' file that will allow him to do this. I was always under the belief that the actual MS Access program was simply the front end to view/edit the data and the actual DB within Access was JET. Am I right in thinking that if he wanted to view/edit data from an access DB, he would have to either code a front end for himself and use the Access DB drivers to connect - or buy MS Access?

Many thanks in advance!

You can get an Access runtime which will allow you to edit data, run forms etc, but not make any design changes (note this would include making new queries). In this way you can run an Access aplication without owning a "full" Access licence
