When I started working in my company as IT Admin I noted that the dealer that setup Aloha do not give any advice into data security (The dealer install and configure the Dell Server) as the BOH where part of a Hotspot setup. When I first visited the store and hook up my Macbook I noted that the BOH server, printer, Security DVRs where showing in finder and I could browse them! That was scary to me because in average at any giving time we had over 120 to 160 Hotspot users across all 16 stores. I never receive any status or incident about data security but could had been very bad.
I recomend to those that had a store with hotspot to look into Mikrotik Router OS. The Router are about $100 and had an extensive set of feature like VLAN, Layer 3 and Layer 7 Switch, BGP Routing, MPLS, HOTSPOT setup with authentication, Bandwith Shaping (By protocol, port, packet mark, L7 protocol etc). I use them to isolate the data coming and going to the POS Server and Hotspot User.
PS: I found this forum because someone at one of the store made a shortcut using the /bpjw switch and was getting admin level access.
