I just upgraded from a K7VZA mobo to K7S5A. Whenever i boot up my computer there is no signal on my monitor. I took out all the cards leaving the vid card, but same prob. I tried clearing Cmos, resetting ram, but there is always no signal on my monitor. Any ideaS?

Hi,

I have just built 3 systems with these boards with no probs.

Some more info will be required from you - ie what processor (duron/athloh/xp), what type of memory (sdr/ddr), is the PSU powerful enough (300W), do you get any activity from the board at all (fans spinning/beeps/etc), is video card agp/pci?

I'm on a Amd t.bird 1.4
cl2 crucial pc133 ram
300wat psu
when i power the computer the fans turn on and everything.
Gf2 pro ddr64 agp
There are beeps when i plug in the speaker cord to the mobo, but when i have the hdd led, power switch, etc, without speaker there are no beeps. 8 Beeps.

I can't remember the BIOS manufacturer for this board - do a search for something like '8 beeps from BIOS' on google. I found this page:

which seems to have links for various BIOS's. For AMI BIOS I found this explaination:

"8 Beeps: Display memory read/write failure

Explanation: The BIOS is unable to write to the frame buffer memory on the video card.

Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the video card, or the memory on the video card. It can also be a motherboard issue."

Seems to fit your problems - got another (low spec, pci) video card you can try just to get things going?

Did you reformat the hard drive?? I think these boards have differant chipsets?? one Ali Magic the other SIS 735?
Anyway if this is true then you could be getting all kinds of conflicts if you havn't formatted. Martin
