Just got done deploying Phone Manager on a couple of laptops that connect to our network through VPN. The phonemanager program can connect to our IP Office unit and make and receive calls, but any one call it or receiving calls from it hears a distinct echo of his/her own voice? Has anyone run into this issue? Is this a know issue?

I had issues from day one with the Phone Manager sound/voice quality. We also connect remote users via vpn so that they can connect to the IPO. We had issues with the echo sound and also a lot of choppy voice quality. From what I have found out by posting those issues here and working with a company that implements Avaya systems, they all point to once the voice packets go across the Internet it is hard to troubleshoot. It also depends on the internet speed that the laptop is connected to and the amount of traffic on the network that the laptop is connecting to via vpn.

I had better luck with the Avaya 4610 hard phone with the VPN client downloaded to it.

Not sure if this helps!

Doc, we better back up. We don't have enough road to get up to 88.

Thanks Rob. I have several VPN phones (5610 models) that have been working great for over a year in the field. If it were my choice, that is the only phone we would deploy outside our network.

I would suggest you get an endpoint licence and give 3cx sip phone (or another free like x-lite) a try, I have it onto our ofice just NAT's through no VPN etc and the quality is great. Unless transfer is needed as that can be troublesome with the free sip softphones I tried :)

I'm also having trouble with the tranfer from my Nokia E66/E70 they but do not transfer. But it does sent the sip tranfer code.
