Hi;

Have set up EC500 and during testing, noted something interesting. Dont know if its a fault, or limitation.

When calling from CELL phone to the desk phone that matches up to the off-pbx station mapping, the call from the CELL doesnt ring at the desk phone. It follows the cover path. The icon for line appearnce changes to indicate an active call. If i turn CLI off on the CELL and ring in, the call arrives as expected.

Am i doing something wrong? Can i get around this?

I know someone will raise the issue of WHY would someone do this... but its just the way these people plan on using there system

Thanks.

pabxdude,

the whole meaning of ec500 is to "tie" cell phone to desk phone. when you make a call into the system from cell phone and it matches off-pbx table, system interpret this call as if it was made from a related desk phone. so in your case it thinks that you make a call from a desk phone to the same desk phone. it doesn't give you busy signal but follow "active" coverage path instead, all logical.
considering that, why a person who has a desk phone and a cell phone tied to it would want to call his/her own desk phone from a cell phone? who he/she want to find at his/her own desk? :)

There is a way around it, if you MUST defeat it. Use ARS digit anal, put your 7 digit cell number in there, insert the area code digits, then map your station to the 7 digit number, that way the number the ec500 feature looks for is 7 digits, not the 10 digits sent by your cell CPI.

thanks to you both for the info...

Dwalin - I know it seems weird for someone to do this, but its something they want to do...

cheers.

hi all;

did some testing, and may have found an easier way to overcome the issue...

on the off-pbx station mapping page, i entered the first 4 digits of the cell into the dial prefix and the remaining 6 into the telephone number.

I tested ec500 and extend call. both seem to wotk OK and calling from cell to desk phone works too...

thanks.

instead of all of the farting around with ARS analysis, and modifying the EC500 prefixes...

You could just change the mapping field on page two of the off-pbx station form to none.
