The network guy before me... who now happens to be my boss so I have to tread lightly... decided to buy two unpowered Cisco switches 3524-XL-EN on Ebay about a year ago. These handle about 15 devices each in two separate buildings on our main campus.
Last week, one of the switches started acting weird. The port went up-down-up-down-up-down... Friday, it rebooted itself 4 times during the day. Saturday, I happened to be in the server room working on a different box and it rebooted again. 5 minutes later, once more.
I've since unplugged it, and transferred those devices to other switches in the rack.
Now, since he bought this on ebay, is there any way to get Cisco support on it? We have smartnet on EVERY device, including our Call Manager and 200+ phones, but not these two switches the best he remembers.
Am I out of luck? I think the answer is yes, but thought I'd ask.
Sadly,
