Easy way to rotate a layer? I like Elements 1

In Elements, if you rotate over an item on a layer, you get the little arrow to rotate the layer.

Is this available in CS3? I can only figure you how to select the layer, and then go up to Edit -> Transform -> Rotate.

How can I get to rotating in less steps.

Sorry, I meant to say if you click on an item on a layer (not "rotate over an item").

...with selected objects, hover over the outside corners of the bounding area, the cursor changes to allow you to rotate manually...

...more accurate rotations are achieved using the rotate tool or the transform palatte...

I might have just figured out an answer - use the Marquee Tool to draw around the object, then Ctrl+T to Free Transform.

Is there a quicker way?

...am i right in thinking you are talking about photoshop cs3 and not illustrator cs3?...

...confused because you have posted your quaestion in the illustrator forum...

...and yes, control T is the quickest way in photoshop to manually rotate an object or layer (unlocked layer)...

Yes, I am talking about Illustrator.

You can also press the r key, and then it will allow you to rotate the item. Click v(pointer shortcut) then click all the objects or use the marquee to highlight all of them, then press r, and you can move the point of rotation by clicking something else, or you can simply rotate from that point.

To highlight everything on the layer, click the layer palette and then the circle like thing to the right of the layer you want - the circle will change to the color of the layer.
