Hi,

i want to move my legato 6.2 server from my windows 2000 server to a new server (new hardware) with windows 2003. Is it enough to copy thr nsr directory? And when i use the mmrecover procedure, is then also recovered the configuration -> like clients and there properties?

thx for help!

PS: my english is not good (you can see :) ) and i need the help normally since yesterday :)

I don't know whether 6.2 is supported in W23K...

no, you must to reinstall it (NW install new services). After reintall, you must to recover the last bootstrap (make a backup of the bootstrap before of course) with mmrecov. you need to enter new licenses.

Take a look to the "Disaster Recover Guide" (manual)from it's quite good, it shows you how to do what you want.

And when i use the mmrecover procedure, is then also recovered the configuration -> like clients and there properties?

Yes, you recover the mm and the res folders. mm=media index, res=resources (all configurations, including licenses)

Please have a look at the Software Compatibility Guide ( According to this doc, NW 6.2. has not been tested and certified with 2003.

You should proceed as follows:

- make sure you have a good index and bootstrap backup from your existing server
- assign the new machine the same name
- install the new hardware
- install the new NW software (same directory)
- do a disaster recovery procedure (mmrecov)
- recover the index backups (nsrck -L7 client_name)

This should do.

Do not forget that you need and update enabler and different authorization codes for each installed license.
