We are setting up TS on one of our servers (win2k sp3). We have it working ok but it seems a bit awkward to disconnect the session from the remote pc. We run it in full screen mode hence we don't get the nice 'X' top right to close the session.

The only way I have found to disconnect is to go through the TS connection manager mmc and end the session there.

Does anyone know of an easier way to end the sesson in full screen mode?

Thanks...Andy.

2 ways.

Set the reset / disconnect option to how ever many minutes you want, say 5. (Administrative Tools, Terminal Services Configuration, RDP-Tcp connection.)

Upgrade to the newer RDC on the client so that in full mode you have a tab in the middle for full screen, minimize, and close.

Thanks for that.

Your last suggestion looks the way to go. I hadn't realised that there was a disconnect option available from start>shutdown in the TS client session.

Andy.

I make a shortcut and put it on the desktop..

C:\winnt\system32\logoff.exe then make an icon for it and tell your users to click it when they are done. That will log them off.

If you just disconnect make sure you set the options as described in set the reset / disconnect option, otherwise the clients session will stay active until the default time out occurs.

Logoff option closes the session.
