I'm running report which is selecting numerous data for a person and one of the fields is a date field. The field can be populated several times if the person has ended their course and then started again. I'm using a subreport to bring the date across, but it is picking up all date, ie

Fred Bloggs 1 High Street 04/09/02
01/04/03
01/04/04
01/04/05
01/04/06

the date I need is the first one (04/09/02). Does anyone know how I can get this earliest date?

Thanks, CS

Group by the person and then in the Reporft->Selection Fromulas->Record use:

{table.date} = minimum({table.date},{table.person})

I done that, but it's returning 'true' for each record!

It can't return true, the formula doesn't return ANYTHING to the report.

Use the pull down menu Report->Edit Selection Formulas->Record and put the formula in there. I had typos in therre, but the post was otherwise clear enough.

Misunderstood your first email.

I've now put the formula in the correct area and I'm getting the following message:-

This function cannot be used because it must be evaluated leter.

Cheers.

My apologies, it should be in the Report->Edit Selection formula->GROUP, not the RECORD.

That's solved it. Thanks for your help.
