Hello all

I've got a few questions about the cs1000 version 5.5 with ip andand e911.
1. I looked at the vids on utub, while I only have to send the alert to our local security group who then calls the outside ( thats the way they want it )will still have to set-up the channels for the local? There also seems to be another piece,eTelemetry's LENS that is needed for the security office to see the locations or does the cs1000 do that job?
2. At the moment I'm doing a poormans with a hot key. Is there a way to add the location to the CPND display?

Carefull - if you are in the US and you terminate 911 calls locally you are setting yourself up for a huge lawsuite.

There are many ways to be notified when someone dials 911 - LD 24 OSN key or 3rd party apps but call should always terminate to 911 service.

thanks guys, I know what you mean about the law suite. But for some reason the powers that be think this is the way to go for now. To me it just adds time that it takes to get things rolling.

Be very careful here. LTERM is definitely not a good idea, and there may be some specific state legislation that prevents you from doing it.

You may want to read the Blog I wrote about the 16 states with Legislation on the books today, as well as over a dozen other state laws that have language regarding intercepting, or blocking E911.

If you are going to locally terminate E911, I suggest you get a letter from the Public Safety folks in your area telling you that they are cool with it. In the event of someone getting hurt, or worse, it is probably the FIRST thing that is going to asked for during the discovery process. C Y A! You may get a letter like this from an attorney:

"Plaintiff states that when they dialed 9-1-1, the designated National Emergency Number, it terminated at your facility instead of the 911 Center responsible for your area. Please provide your letters of agency with local law enforcement allowing you to perform these duties, as well as all training records for those persons answering these calls showing current Emergency Medical Dispatch training."
